What is The Homebase Initiative?
In short? We're adding one album every week for the entire 2019-2020 school year.
In long? In an era where almost every song made by all of humanity lives in everyone's pocket, passive music discovery has fallen to the wayside a little bit. So, in an effort to use radio to more actively recommend music--which is what college radio is all about--we'll be adding one new album every week for the rest of the year. They'll be themed, too, to broaden the musical taste of the station and (hopefully) its listeners.
I'm glad you asked! Here are the albums added so far for this month.
Some of the albums we missed adding from the months of May through August.
I can feel you skimming over this description already. “How could the Call Me Maybe singer ever make a good album, much less a good song?” Well, I’m here to tell you that Carly Rae Jepsen has not only been making phenomenal 80s-style pop music since 2015’s Emotion, I’m here to tell you her new record is better than that one. Dedicated is nothing if not a consistent album—deftly taking from only the best elements of 80s, 90s, and 2010s pop, Dedicated finds itself as the rare pop record without a miss in its arsenal. If you’ve never listened to pop music seriously before, Dedicated is the perfect place to start.
